McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area

Most of the hiking today was McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area. This is a large area near Fruita. Many trailhead parking areas and lots of trails at each parking area. There were signs that said: do not leave valuables in car. I risked it and it worked out. I first went to trail D4 from Devil's Canyon Trailhead. This is a large area where D4 is one of the trails. Next was Flume Canyon from Pollock Bench Trailhead. This was a nice loop first out in the open and then in a small canyon. I talked to someone who lives here and he said there are lots of hiking trails and some biking trails. The trails go into Utah and you can go for many miles.

This isn't as dramatic as Colorado National Monument but very nice and very few people. There are signs at the beginning but then you are on your own. The loop trail was a little tricky as people had created other trails off the main trail so it wasn't always clear where to go. Keeping track of the general direction helped.

Duck Rock... I made that up. All rock names below are made up.
