I took 491S, 160E, 25 to get to Colorado Springs. I stopped at Great Sand Dunes NP on the way. 160 goes up to a high pass a few times. One over 10,000 feet.
Sand Dunes is an interesting place. A flat area driving to it then be very large dunes next to 14,000 foot mountains. Looks like some nice hiking trails going up into the hills and you can walk on the dunes as well. No water this time of year but soon water will collect at the bottom of the dunes.
