Route 128, Colorado river

I learned a number of things today.

1. Route 128 and also La Sal loop road are pretty amazing. Route 128 leaves right from moab and follows the Colorado river for maybe 30 miles. There are canyon walls most of the way and lots of places to stop along the river. The La Sal loop road is intense. The van gets the credit for today (and most days). This is rt 46 and goes up to 8000 feet. Lots of rock monuments to check out in the beginning and then up into snow and mountain views.

2. DO NOT STAY IN MOAB. Rt 128 has many very nice camp grounds right on the Colorado river. If you want free then 46 has plenty of dispersed camping.

this stretch of the Colorado appears to be good for rafting. I saw some commercial rafts and also people with their own rafts and inflatable kayaks. Also hiking trails off 128 and 46 looks like you can go almost anywhere. I went on a few short walks today. As I said the van did the work today.

this area is something to explore more some day.

Rt 128

Rt 46. Very tough laws in Utah regarding recreational vehicles. You have to be at least 8 years old.
