Death Valley day 3

Death Valley is a very large park and you can pretty much go anywhere. All of the hikes today were trails but I walked beyond them or into different areas. The first hike is a good example. This is a .5 mile boardwalk around a stream with pup fish in it. These fish started out in the lake that was here many years ago and survived in the increasingly salty water. There were a lot of fish and easy to see from the board walk. Then I walked off the back of the boardwalk trail and followed the stream into a strange area of smooth rock. Interesting area. I went 4 miles RT  but you could go as far as you want.

Zabriski point is a series of trails but you can also walk down any of the many canyons.

next was Desolation Canyon with colored rock and narrow canyons. You could also go up a significant hill after the end of the trail which I did not do. This trail is unmarked so really up to you where it begins and ends.

talked to ranger and for another time:

Narrows past Badwater

Panamint area

Lots of mining artifacts to check out. This was in front of store. The Ranch, hotel in Furnace creek, has a great museum on its grounds.

The Ranch: I did not ask but probably very expensive or booked a year in advance or likely both.
