South Lake Tahoe->La Verkin utah.
Nevada is a large state with Lots of open land. I drove on 95 again and then headed east on 6 and 375. signs said things like next gas station 110 miles. no cell service most of the day. 375 is the extraterrestrial highway. Area 51 is there somewhere? Mostly it is a long stretch of desert. No towns, no houses, no sign of people. Nevada desert is typically high where I was. Around 4000 feet but not flat. Big mountains all around and the road goes up and down. Saw some Joshua trees and lots of Tumble weeds. Always windy it seems based on my 2 days of experience.
A very interesting area in the corner of AZ that I drove through. Too busy a road to stop and enjoy it. I should have got off at an exit but I was 8 hours into the drive at that point and just wanted it to be over.
The hotel looks like it was 5 stars back in the 50's when they built it. It has drifted down to 1 star but the room is palatial and reasonably clean. The window sill is marble and the trim is that thick old trim with corner squares. Part of the building they gave up on over time. Boarded up and shut down.
The plan is to check out Kalob Canyon and Snow Canyon state park in the next few days.
Trip odometer to date: 4900 miles.
