A small storm came through last night and into the AM. It stayed cloudy all day skiing which seems to be a rare event. Rain at the hotel and 2-3 inches of heavy snow at Heavenly. Fun day and the fewest number of people so far. Empty chairs all over.
I drove to the Nevada parking area since the gondola was on wind hold. 5 miles away which gives you an idea of the size of this mountain. All lifts opened by 11:00. Most of Nevada side was open when I got there.
They are burning some woods near the base of the gondola. They had signs up letting you know it was intentional. Getting ready for fire season I guess. Good time of year for a controlled fire. See picture taken from hotel below.

Local color. This guy is a mad man! 40 feet up in the air chain sawing this massive tree one piece at a time. He is not a professional! Rickety ladder gets him up the first 30 feet. Needed a better camera for this one. Sorry about that.
